The trip to Jessie's Place ( Bekah)
At our school, WBES we had a teddy bear drive. As you know, we are a ThinkQuest team building a website about kindness. We did the teddy bear drive as a project. A lot of kids brought things in like clothes, stuffed animals, and toys. It was amazing to see how much stuff that everyone from our school donated. After school on December 17th, 2007 we went with our teacher Mrs. Harris to Jessie's Place. The people there were really kind. They told us thank you and that the kids would really like all the stuff. We told the people there who we were and we told them that we would send them a link to our website when we were finished.
Our Trip To Jessie's Place (Amy)
We had a teddy bear drive at school. We donated alot of toys and jackets for the homeless children and women. Yesterday we went to Jessie's Place to drop the stuff off that we raised. We unloaded all the stuff. It was FREEZING! After we did that we told the workers there what our mission was... to make a website after doing kind things and what we've learned while doing them. They thought that was very neat. After we told them that we would send them the link to the finished product we told them goodbye and we hoped the people enjoyed what we gave. They said thank you and finally we went to eat at McDonalds!
December 21st is set aside by the National Coalition for the Homeless as a day to remember the homeless. There are over 3 million people in the United States who are homeless. Jessie's Place helps homeless women who are homeless learn to do jobs and get back on their feet. You can visit their website: Jessie's Place

Kindness In the Community (Bekah's Responses)
What kindness means in the community.
Kindness in the community means a better community. When people are kind in the community they make other people want to be kind. If everyone was kind in the community the community would be problem free. Everyone should be kind in the community.
How to solve problems when there is a conflict in the community.
When there is a conflict in the community you have problems. To solve problems you need to help. You can be nice to people and tell to be nice to people too. Then people would not be mad at each other. People might get kindness around the community.

Tia's Grandma's Thoughts About Kindness
Tia interviewed her Grandma to get her thoughts about kindness.
Some ways to show kindness in a friendship are to be there when your friends are feeling down. Always listen to your friends. Send them a card, a gift, or give them a phone call to say, "I value our friendship." Help them out whenever and wherever you can, sometimes it may be when they least expect it. One time a friend gave me money when I really needed it, but I had not told them I needed it.
In a friendship people should be considerate. We should listen more and speak less, smile often. Try to picture yourself in someone else's place. "Do unto others as you would have them do to you."
If people were kind all of the time, especially in friendship the thing that would be different is that there would be no fear of your deepest secret ever being told. When someone tells a secret that usually starts distrust and even verbal or physical fights.
I do think that kind people are respected, but not by the majority of people. I also think that in order to change those that disrespect kind people, we need to go the extra mile and show kindness to them even when they are mean or hurtful.

The Great Day at W. B. E. S.
October 24, was a great day for W. B. E. S., Kindness Kids, and the Star Students. They had parents, students, and the staff to watch them spread the word about kindness in their chant, rap, and skit. It went very well and we might do it again and we hope to do it at more schools. If you want to know the rap here it is:
Conflict resolution is where it's at,
So listen as we begin to rap.
'Cos you are you and I am me,
But we are us and us are we.
Identify the problem
Bring it out
Don't kick or punch or even shout
Attack the problem not the fear
Don't even shed a single tear
When you are mad
Just walk away
Forget the problem
You'll be okay
Remember these words
Make them stick
When someone wants a friend
It's YOU they'll pick!
